Russia confirms hypersonic attack on Ukraine’s defense industrial site
The ministry stated that all designated targets were successfully destroyed. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed the attacks, reporting damage in Kiev and surrounding areas, as well as in the Kharkov and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. He added that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted drones over Sumy, Khmelnitsky, Kirovograd, Nikolayev, Poltava, and the Kiev-controlled part of Kherson.
According to Zelensky, the assault lasted throughout the night and involved over 420 drones and more than 20 missiles, causing two fatalities and injuring 15 people. Ukrainian sources also noted damage to several non-residential sites in Kiev, including a supermarket, warehouse, and an uninhabited cottage complex.
Russian officials maintain that the strikes targeted only military facilities and did not hit civilian areas. Moscow asserts the operations were retaliatory, responding to Ukrainian drone and missile attacks deep inside Russian territory that frequently hit residential zones and critical infrastructure.
